WELCOME
The Lambeth School Sports Partnership, based at The London Nautical School, was started in September 2001 as one of the pilot projects. The SSP had one Secondary school and 4 Primary schools.
To date we have grown to 13 Secondary schools, 59 Primary schools, 5 SEN and 3 PRUs. Schools are split into clusters and one SSCO serves each cluster. (see attached chart)
Our SSP recognises that it is in primary schools where most children develop their basic skills and enthusiasm for sport, so specific funding is allocated through the programme to provide training for Primary teachers. In addition to staff training and whole school INSET we are also on hand to offer assistance with mapping, schemes of work, cross curricular links, gifted and talented programs, leadership, intra and inter school competition and have strong links with many local authority and external partners.
Working Towards the 5 Hour Offer
In addition to the 2 hours per week of high quality PE and Sport will be helping schools to offer opportunities for young people to participate in a further 3 hours per week of sporting activities provided through schools, FE Colleges, clubs and community providers. This will create a sustainable legacy both in terms of future elite success and grassroots sport. In addition 16 - 19 year old have been added to our program and the desire is to have these students participating in 3 hours of activity per week.
I feel exceptionally lucky to be involved in this National program with a team of highly motivated and inspirational SSCO's, Competition Manager, Further Education Sports Coordinator, exceptional Administrator, Assistant PDM and Director of Coaching. We all hope to assist you soon !
